Third flooded encounter with water

3 August 2011

As early as 7:10am, my house help knocked on my door to tell me the living room was flooded. Half asleep, I jumped out of bed to step into an inch of water in my own bedroom! And then I saw the living room flooded. I live in a building and this can’t be true. I thought I was dreaming. I rushed to my walk-in closet to see a pair of shoes floating, as in floating! Found out my hand-held bidet gave in and made a hell of a mess. Early last week, I noticed that the metal cover of my hand-held bidet was kinda loose and everyday a bigger part of the black rubber was exposed. I tried to figure out what was going on and I can’t seem to figure out so I told myself to go and buy a new one. Five days have passed and still I did not get the chance to buy a new one. I knew something was wrong but I should have paid attention and acted on it.

It was my third flooded encounter with water. Last April, K I S H was just less than a month opened and a sudden downpour flooded part of the store. Then few weeks after that when I was trying to figure out how to increase the flow of water in my washbasin when it just suddenly burst open and in a few minutes the T & B and walk-in closet was all flooded.

After my two house helps and I were able to control the water, I walked around and I know water is still there under the parquet flooring.

How weird, last night over dinner with some friends, JJ Yulo was telling us how the area where we were staying was flooded almost 5’ high during Ondoy, and I was thinking that was bad. So I am still thankful because an inch of water is much better than 5’. The worst part is, I am sure my parquet wooden flooring will warp and eventually it will have that old Paris apartment feel of age and history. Not bad. Such is life.
