Tweet for UNICEF
23 May 2011
When my good friend Daphne asked me if I can be part of an auction for the benefit of UNICEF, I immediately agreed and was excited about the idea of donating an original work. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce a floor lamp that I had in my black book of design which is part of a collection that will be launched exclusively for K I S H. The only problem is the floor lamp is still a sketch and may not be ready for the event. But when Daphne told me that the event will be moved to a later date, I was just happy that I will have enough time for prototyping and get the piece out for production.
The piece is a whimsical floor lamp called the Tweet. It is basically a birdhouse floor lamp and the inside of the house is covered with fabric in toile print depicting the Philippine country side. If the lamp with the hole and bird faces the wall, you can see the silhouette of the bird! How fun is that. The leg is powder coated and it comes in 3 different heights. The 3 pieces we are donating are basically the first 3 pieces out from the production line.
On May 25 the eBay site will go live. Please bookmark: www.ebay.ph/unicef. The auction is open to everyone from anywhere in the world.

As well as raising important funds for our work, we will be able to raise awareness of important issues affecting children in the most disadvantaged communities of the Philippines and worldwide.”
I hope all of you can support this event and be a little generous and bid for one of the pieces.
Here is the initial sketch of the Tweet, it will come in 3 different sizes.
The inside will have a Toile print depicting Philippine countryside.
The real thing, love the way it reflects the silhouette on the wall.
Front view makes it more sculptural than just a lamp.
